Vikramaditya receives more funds than Rahul Gandhi for LS Campaign

Vikramaditya allotted more campaign funds than Rahul Gandhi for Lok Sabha Polls

Congress has revealed that Himachal Pradesh’s Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, received ₹87 lakh, the highest amount of campaign funds, to contest the recent Lok Sabha elections. Despite this significant support, Vikramaditya lost to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate, actress Kangana Ranaut, in the Mandi constituency by a margin of 74,755 votes. Kangana secured 5,37,022 votes, making it one of the most closely watched contests in the state.

Rahul Gandhi receives ₹70 lakh

The report submitted by Congress to the Election Commission of India also showed that the party allocated ₹70 lakh each to Rahul Gandhi for his campaigns in Wayanad and Raebareli. The party also funded Anand Sharma, another candidate from Himachal Pradesh, with ₹46 lakh. However, Sharma lost to BJP’s Rajeev Bhardwaj in Kangra by the largest margin in the state, with a difference of 2,51,895 votes.

The Election Commission had previously raised the expenditure limit for Lok Sabha candidates to ₹95 lakh, a figure that Congress tried to utilize effectively. However, the results in Himachal Pradesh were disappointing for Congress as the BJP managed to win all four parliamentary seats in the state, including Mandi, albeit with reduced margins.
